I used to believe there was a social standing that come with drinking tea from a teacup. The media always portrayed this image of intelligent, high class British people were the only people who drink tea. This perception I had stopped when I went to Peru. Everybody drank tea there, I mean everybody: no matter the age, gender, or social class. Peruvians were not big on water, they stayed hydrated with tea and soup. It's funny because I would see tea as a remedy not a source of hydration. I wonder if it's just cultural that even after two cups of tea I have to drink another cup of cold water to feel hydrated, it probably is. I just can't imagine getting hydrated through hot water with sugar and herbs.
