Picking my college was probably one of the most confusing decisions I’ve made to this day. So many thoughts filled my head, and I couldn’t find the courage to make a decision and stick with it… until yesterday. I did it. I decided that I’ll be going to Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. One thing I learned through this whole process of picking a college is that there is so much that we don’t know about the future, even as we make these decisions that will affect our own futures. I’m a planner, and I like to have a set plan ahead of time. Picking a college has put me in a state of confusion because I don’t know what will happen over the next four years. What will come after I finish college? Nothing is set in stone. The future brings so much uncertainty, and I think the hardest things about this transition phase is realizing that life goes on, and you have to enjoy the present moments because everything else is up in the air.
The next few months will be full of nostalgic memories and getting ready to say goodbye to everything that I know and feel comfortable with. But who knows what the future holds; all we know is that it’s time to take the next step, and embark on the journeys of the rest of our lives.
