Wrote It Post New Entry

Last Blog Post

Posted by Monica Reichard on April 23, 2015 at 8:20 AM
So I guess this is it. Officially, officially, the last Friday of blog posts. I look back at our first text posts and I see how far we've come. How much we've opened up to each other over the course of the year, through confessions or vents, or maybe just a small poem that made us all understand. How much we've grown as writers, as literary critics, as people. Maybe soon our short attention span will wipe the memory of writing class from our minds. Maybe some will be quick to forget the worldly conversations we somehow always ended up having, or the existential crises that were always the topic of discussion. Maybe someone's interest in writing will wane over the years, or maybe it'll grow. Maybe one of us will live in the penthouse apartment at the center of a bustling city, and we'll come across a friend's article or story in the paper, and quietly smile to himself, remembering how she was always a great writer, even in high school. Or maybe not. Maybe the memory of writing class was and will always be the last unifying factor between this specific group of people. Or maybe not. Whatever the future may bring us, I truly believe it was an honor and a privilege sharing fifty minutes a day with such a talented group of people. And for whatever life may throw our way, I sincerely hope I'll have the pleasure of finding each of you somewhere, somehow, along the road. And I hope I get to catch up with you. And I hope to hear your stories. And I hope they're all happy. For now, I hope you take this piece of advice. Anna, never stop writing. Cameron, never stop writing. Enyxa, Annika, never stop writing. Kelvin, Marcel, Miranda, never stop writing. Richard, Silvi, Sariemma, never stop writing. Hannah, Sofia, Tati, never stop writing. Diego, Pablo, Kelly, never stop writing. Ms. Erickson, please never stop writing. Please never stop teaching students the magic of writing.
