I'm not really Puerto Rican

Or at least that's what they say

"Gringa" they call me

And I'm starting to believe it. 

I mean, they might be right.

I'm basically American

But the, why do I get so defensive

When they insult my beautiful island?

Why do I feel so comfortable

Under that blazing sun?

Why do I feel that warmth, theat comfort

With every aspect of Boricua culture?

Where do I really belong?

I guess I'll never know. 

I just know I want an alcapurria.
