What I Will Miss

Posted by mgperez on October 17, 2014 at 1:05 PM
Once I leave Puerto Rico in order to go to college, I will miss so many things. For starters, I'll miss the view from my home. I won't be able to see the clear blue waters that brushed against the sand and the palm trees that awkwardly grew sideways. This somehow created a picturesque view of the whole coast of Isla Verde with the palm tree jutting into the horizon. Another thing I'll definitely miss will be the food. All the amazing fried food that makes my mouth water just by thinking about it. My dad's weekly "carne guisada con arroz blanco y tostones" on Sundays, which each week tastes better and better, and the "lechon asado con arroz con gandules y guineitos hervidos" on Christmas are something that I will definitely miss if I can't travel to Puerto Rico during the holidays. However, I will probably miss my friends the most. They are the brothers and sisters that I never had. And, even though I feel like killing them sometimes, I also can't imagine living without them. It will be so hard to say goodbye to those who I have grown up with. These people will always have a special place in my heart and will always be considered as my family, no matter how far away they are or how long it has been since our last conversation. I guess that these three things make up a lot in my life and nothing will be the same after I leave them as I go to start a new life by myself.
