The Anchor

Posted by Sofía Cintrón-Schröder on September 25, 2014 at 3:10 PM

Your glossy stares drew me in,

But the deepness of your eyes captivated me.

I swam in the abyss looking for a way out

Maybe a light, a signal, a chance

Nothing.

I was lost in the dark.

I was trapped.

I was sinking.

You had an anchor that kept pulling me in

And I had no buoyancy to float back up.

I couldn’t breathe.

Smothered, suffocated, asphyxiated

Slowly lacking air and life,

Slowly fading away,

Slowly dying,

Slowly losing you.

I hit the floor.

Rock bottom.

You let me drown.

You let me die.
