Name one teenager in this world who has their life completely sorted out.
(Except that girl I met in camp that had published 4 children's books and made a profit in the stock market, at 16.)
I guess everyone is scared, especially senior year.
Scared of change.
Scared of the ending of all we've ever known.
Scared of decisions we'll have to make.
Scared of responsibilities we'll have to assume.
Scared of simply living.
Maybe I'm book smart, sure, but is that really going to help me out in life?
Knowing the capital of Switzerland won't help me pay my taxes, nor will Epsilon-Delta proofs, nor will knowing cellular respiration.
I mean, I'm glad Saint John's has taught me these things, I like learning, but it's not like we've ever had a class on 'Doing Life 101' or 'What to do when you catch a cold 1600 miles away from home."
Seventeen is such a young age to start acting grown up.
I'd like to think people out there share the same fears.
