i’ve stopped stealing pages out of poetry books,

but last week i got a thesaurus and i looked for

synonyms for you and

could only find rain and more rain and a thunderstorm that sounded

like glass,

like crystal,

like an orchestra.

and i almost miss

the sound of your voice,

but i don’t remember it.

i only remember you used to smell

the way it does after it rains,

and how i could

smell it on you even

when you hoped you’d

never see me again.
