My failed attempt at baking

Posted by marialugo072 on January 30, 2014 at 11:35 AM

The other day I was craving for red velvet cupcakes, so I decided to bake! I looked up the recipe that my sister uses because she’s the one that bakes at my house (she bakes really good). So I gathered all of the ingredients and materials. I started mixing the ingredients, and preparing the pan with the cupcake baking cups. The cups were pink and green with white polka-dots. They were very cute. After I finished preparing the red cupcake mixture, I started pouring a spoonful of the mixture into the cupcake cups. Everyone in the house was looking forward to eating them, so I immediately put them in the oven. Then I started preparing the frosting, which is my favorite part. It’s delicious…so creamy, so soft, so tasty. After 15 minutes I decide to check on the cupcakes. I open the oven and ALL THE OVEN WAS RED! I thought, “OMG what the hell? I fail at baking.” I was kind in shock with myself. I called my mom and she started laughing. We took the non-existent cupcakes out. After talking with my mom we figured out that the “flour” that I used wasn’t really flour, but confectioners sugar. In other words, the essence of the cupcakes wasn’t in the mixture. What a failure. At least the frosting came out good and I had the chance to try it. Now the frosting is just sitting in the freezer waiting for me to get over my red-velvet cupcake failure to try and bake them again.
