But not,
Puerto Rican,
But not.
Spanish in our homes,
English for our future,
Thinking in spanish,
Talking in english,
A shattered identity,
And a confusing political ideology,
We are Puerto Ricans.
Regardless of what our passport,
Of our currency,
We are Puerto Ricans.
Our only home,
Our only patria,
What should we be?

I truly believe that there is a missing dialogue about exactly this. If you do some looking, there are lots of Nuyorican memoirs (When I was Puerto Rican comes to mind) but what about the voices of your experience. Living HERE, yet americanized, and identity dichotomies.
