He'd been locked up in his room for days on end, without any movement from his chair except to use the bathroom. As the day turned to night and the night turned to day, he'd slave away, reading endless passages, writing endless essays, and solving endless problems. Nothing could break his concentration--not even his dog, Betsy III.
When the day of the PSAT arrived, Kvon stepped outside his house with the knowledge that he was prepared to take on anything the exam could throw at him. But he wasn't prepared to see how the world had changed.
It was the future. Cars flew around Montehiedra. People could communicate via holograms.
When he arrived at his test center, Kvon eagerly sat down to take the test. Except, he'd made a major miscalculation. He hadn't kept track of time, and slaved away endless years in his room as he accidently signed up for a test twenty years later than he intended, only noticing his error as he left his house.
