Wrote It Post New Entry

Post-Thanksgiving Hurricane

Posted by Gabriela Rojo on September 5, 2013 at 11:30 PM

Scared yet cozy, with lights shining in the darkness. Nothing to do but write a poem on my notepad- a Christmas poem. When lightning struck and thunder rumbled, I just rhymed my troubles away. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!, it ended, as most of my Christmas poems did. And that night I truly meant it, because throughout the day and the terrible storm, as everything got darker, the lights just got brighter. And who isn't happy when they're sitting under a Christmas tree with all its multi-colored lights turned on in the darkness? When it was bedtime and I couldn’t sleep due to the heat I would just walk to the living room and sit on the sofa right next to the Christmas tree and close my eyes with my nose just inches away from the branches’ wonderful scent of pine. Listening to the raging rain and wind I would snuggle up on the refreshing touch of the sofa’s leather and fall asleep watching the lights shine. They were a constant reminder that a better day was coming, a day filled with magic and wonder beyond imagination.
