It was a beautiful day. They sky was very blue; little white fluffy clouds were floating around. Birds were chirping around the trees. The sunny day was filled with emotion. A mode of optimisms was reflected around the air. It was a beautiful day after a long time.
It was perfect for outdoor activities. Although Lily did not like outdoor activities, her instinct of cooking food made her go out to the backyard to do some barbeque.
Betsy, her dong, followed her. She had just came from the grooming place with her scarf and flower on her head. She always followed Lily.
Betsy had a peculiar character; she had an instinct to bark at anyone she didn’t know.
As Lily was cooking her famous grilled fish, Betsy suddenly started barking. At first glance, it seem indifferent, for she barked many times at passing cats, but after a while her barks became more aggressive. Lily turned around.
“Betsy, Betsy, what’s wrong??? Stop Barking.”
Betsy started to agitate her. Abruptly, Lily noticed that Betsy was becoming hostile. Her teeth resonated that of a wolf. She no longer was the cute dog that Lily had thought. She was a monster suddenly unleashed. Lily was a little afraid, but then she realized her fear would become far worse when she saw a figure that resembled that of a criminal.
Once the figure was fully visible, Lily could make out a tall, skinny man, with short hair and a scar partially covered by a hat. His jean pants were torn and muddy. His T-Shirt was old and was falling apart.
The criminal started running towards Lily with an old and rusty gun in his hand, and with all her might she ran toward the open door. Once she got in, she locked it. The thief tried to pull open the door, but he could not since the door did not have any handle outside.
With the despair of failing his mission, he broke the glass of a sliding door and fleed away; on the other hand, Lily was scared and ran out of the house through the garage towards the guard house.
Myriam, her walking partner, saw her anxious face and asked:
“What happened? Why are you running”
Lily was gasping with tears falling down from her soft face. It was hard for her to talk.
“Thief, Thief!!!” Lily cried.
Without another word, Myriam dialed 9-1-1 into her phone. As Myriam gave the description of the thief as Lily had described him, the emergency dispatcher immediately announced the vivid description of the thief. Within five minutes the police were at the door ready to search the house.
The thief escaped back to the path he came. When he got to the road, a police car saw him walking with his muddy torn jean pant and T- Shirt, but the police didn’t suspect anything until they heard the announcement from the 9-1-1 operator. The Police immediately responded:
“We saw him. He just left two minutes ago.”
The police responded fast and asked for help to spot him through air surveillance. Suddenly the loud sound of a helicopter zooming through the sky was heard. As the air vehicle approached, the sound got louder and louder. A police man was outside the helicopter, looking down to spot him with a binocular. The helicopter was moving slowly in a low altitude than the normal.
The police pointed out in one direction the thief. With their communications, the land police ran to catch the thief.
The police approached him and yelled:
“Hands up and lie on the floor with your face down”
The thief was scared and was mumbling something to himself. It seemed like he had never faced this situation. He laid down without any protest.
“Don’t hurt me. I did not do anything” he begged.
He was handcuffed and taken under their custody.
Something seemed different about the thief. Although, his physical appearance matched the description; however, his attire had completely changed. His torn jeans was no longer torn and muddy. His shirt was a different color. It was strange. How did he change all his clothes so fast? Where were these clothes hidden? What happened to the mud?
Lily wanted to sue the criminal and put him in jail. However, months of different court days seemed to be useless. The criminal was appropriated and left to walk on the streets. Lily had to face her fears every single day of being robbed.
