The Blinded Quest

Posted by Emily on August 23, 2013 at 7:30 AM

One foot in front of the other

Unknown to him what his ultimate destination will be.

Step by step, one foot carefully placed in front of the other, then repeated.

Listening closely to his surroundings,

The sounds of shoes against the hard marble floor and the clash of dishes falling

He stops dead in his tracks to receive the sound.

Piercing his ears, he makes a quick motion to potentially dodge the distant fall.

His interrupted walk continues, step by step, one foot in front of the other.

He knows what he is looking for but struggles to find it.

Sensing not only the sounds and smells but with what he feels,

From the brushing of a wall on his whiskers, to the depth change from a step

His condition has not affected what he wants, but how he must obtain it.

A force pulls him up with out warning but is some how comforting to him.

He listens. To the sound of the beating. He smells. The faded scent of perfume.

He is hugged, but moved, transported to a new location that is unknown to him.

As he investigates his surroundings blindly, he senses a pull,

Not a pull violent in nature but more like a weight upon his whisker.

He has found what he struggled to search for, with the assistance of a friend.

The water bowl was eventually his destination.

It is not known to him when his next encounter with this resource will be, so he takes his time.

Sipping and scooping with his rough tongue as water rolls down, dropping back into the bowl.

He licks his lips, clearing the remaining water from his face and sits.

He is done.
