"Everybody convene in the amphitheater tonight at 9pm". Every 18-year old knew that when they heard this through their ear-piece, decision time was coming up.
Today's walk to the institution was different. Usually everybody from the same year jokes around, but today tensions were high amongst year 3016. Nobodt talked, nobody looked at one another, nothing. Everybody was glued to their computer during lesson time. Not once did someone turn around to tell the person nect to them a joke when the Halo-teacher didn't know how to connect with out computers or when she said some crazy, out-dated remark that flying cars is the most advanced invention to date. Everybody had one thing on their mind: whether or not they were going to stay on this planet. Me? There is now way I am going to leave this planet, even if it means loosing my inmortality.
(*main character breaks the fourth wall*) For those who are not from here and have no idea what I am talking about, here's the deal. Earth became overpopulated when in the year 2850 some genius developed a pill that makes a human inmortal. Obviously, when the pill came out everybody jumped to this opportunity and took the pill. The world could not handle this tendency; so many people being born everyday but nobody dying. So the major world leaders decided to invest in space missions to find another world to divide the nation: those who choose to be immortal and those who don't. Sounds simple? Not so much. See when people from the inmortal planet (Lenix) get pregnant they have to move back to Earth and raise their children until they are 18. At 18 the kids choose which planet they want to live in and no matter what the childrens choose the parents have to either stay on Earth or go back to Lenix if they are inmortal.
