Times where squads were called “cliques” and being part of the crowd was the only way to have friends are gone. Nowadays we live in a time where uniqueness is celebrated and everyone’s goal is to stand out from the crowd. Consequently, many of the people in school have resorted to dyeing their hair and perforating their faces in hopes of achieving “uniqueness” when really they saw kylie jenner doing it. This trend has adapted to our environment like wildfire, and having three piercings in your ear does not come as a surprise anymore. Even men have chosen to go through the excruciating pain of piercings and lying about their true haircolor to pretend like they spent the weekend surfing. Although I believe in self expression and doing whatever we feel with our bodies, for everyone’s eight-hours-of-school sake, I believe keeping it simple is greatly appreciated, especially by those who get easily distracted in class by bright hair colors, or those who really don’t want to hear about your piercing infection number two in the cafeteria. I don’t specifically know why the school has such rules, but as a fellow student of Saint John’s, I vote for those rules to remain intact for us to have a more pleasant experience every day of our school year. (I don't actually agree with any of this)
