What are we?

Posted by IsaJ on November 5, 2015 at 7:20 PM

Teenagers… we’re still kids, but we are expected to act as adults. “Oh you are just a kid, you don’t know what you want.” “You are an adult now, so act like one.” Well, which is it?

I’m a teenager, and not just because my age ends with “teen.” I’m a confused adolescent that needs to learn how to be independent, but at the same time still cannot do everything on my own. It’s the transition between childhood and adulthood. It’s an awkward age where we want to do it all on our own, but realize that it’s okay to accept help from time to time. It’s a time where we discover who are true friends are and who is just there for convenience.

Everyone says that teenage years are the best and worst years of your life, probably because it’s a rollercoaster of emotions. Or maybe because having so many responsibilities sucks, but the freedom that comes with being an adult is both satisfying and keen.
