TBT to the first weekend of September when I went to the US Open in New York. My whole family went to celebrate my dad’s birthday; we were 18 in total. We even had matching hats that said “Charlie’s 50th birthday.” I lost track of the amount of people that came up to me and asked whom Charlie was because they saw the hats everywhere and wanted to wish him a happy birthday. It was a really hot day, but we sat and watched about five games. During every game, guys in blue shirts were walking around handing out packets of Oreo thins to the crowd. My cousin asked for two or three packs every time she saw the guy in the blue shirt so she ended up with about thirty packets of cookies. Some of the games we saw were: Kvitova vs. Schmiedlova, Federer vs. Kohlschreiber, Azarenka vs. Kerber, Isner vs. Vesely, and Pennetta vs. Cetkovska. I was sitting with my uncle, older brother, and four cousins. We also saw Wawrinka, Djokovic, Garcia-Lopez, and Tomic practicing in the backcourts. Whenever there was a break during a game, they wanted to be on the big screen, so they would all scream and dance hoping the camera would point at them. The camera never got to them but they never gave up, it was really embarrassing. Aside from being stared at because of the matching hats, we were being stared at for being crazy. Nevertheless, it was an incredibly fun and enjoyable weekend.
