Waiting

Posted by Sofía Cintrón-Schröder on October 16, 2014 at 10:10 AM

I'm tired of waiting. I don't even know what I'm waiting for anymore... For 3 PM and for the day to end? For the impending weekend that always goes by way too fast? For that party at the end of the month? For the stress-free, vegetative state at the end of the school year? For college? For adulthood? What is it?

We're so consumed planning and waiting for the future that we forget to live in the present. We plan each and every single detail of our scheduled lives and we create these unrealistic expectations of how they’ll end up being. However, we don’t take into consideration the life that is passing us right before our eyes. The little moments of joy that are discreetly formative for our entire existence. The simple details that make our life on Earth a million times better.

Before we even realize it, life will already have passed us by and we’ll realize we never achieved the real goal in life - happiness. We’ll realize we were too busy waiting and not actually doing. We’ll realize we were blinded trying to obtain the perfect life filled with luxury and torrential wealth. We’ll realize simplicity is happiness.
