Has beauty ever made you cry?
On my way to the parking lot, I noticed something I hadn't before. There's this big fountain near where I park. I usually don't look at it - it's so ugly. Yet, I decided to give it a good, long look.
It seemed beautiful. There were these vines swirling around the marble stones. The water sounded almost like bells; droplets chiming in unison. And, when I reached the parking lot, another beautiful thing happened.
The man that works there is slow. Not too bright. Big hands. Mouth open all the time. For some reason, he smiled at me. This one day, he smiled.
It took me some time to take it in, but, after an uncomfortable amount of time, I smiled back.
On my way home, this Rachmaninoff song was playing on the radio.
I popped.
I parked my car in the garage, and cried. For five minutes, I cried. I couldn't take it. It had been so long since I had felt beauty.
Genuine.
Simple.
Extraordinary
Beauty.
And, yes. It made me cry.
