Christmas Mode

IT IS PAST OCTOBER 31st 12 AM which means...Just hear those sleigh bells ringing, ring ting tingling too (or however that song goes). I know there’s still Thanksgiving but it’s such a Christmasy holiday (especially because of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade)! I love watching the parade on Thanksgiving morning while baking cookies, brownies, cake, and other sweets for dinner. My favorite parts of the parade are all of the Broadway performances. I really hope the cast of the Christmas musical, Elf. appear again this year.... Speaking of which, I was disappointed when I heard that Stagedoor Manor, my theater camp, would not be performing at the parade this year. Stagedoor has always done a great job with their performances as the parade’s finale! I have always wanted to join them but I know could never be away from my family on Thanksgiving- that is the single most important day of the year to be with your family! It’s still great to see my friends on national TV, though. It makes me proud to be a Stagedoorian.

Anyways, straying a bit off topic here, Christmas- it’s my favorite time of the year! Sure, we don’t have snow, but we don’t need it. We have beautiful decorations, including lights wrapped around palm trees, a longer vacation, family, and best of all, the music! Christmas music is fun and beautiful no matter what part of the world you come from! Music is a universal language. I like the classic American Christmas songs and, of course, Puerto Rican bomba, plena, salsa, and merengue. If there’s one thing that remains constant every Christmas, it’s the music and the fact that I’m dancing to it.
