The Giving Tree

Posted by Emily on October 24, 2013 at 11:05 PM

Dear Giving Tree,

I don’t know how you’ll get this, or if you’ll get this but I hope you do. I will never forget all that you gave me. The memories, the supplies, the amenities, you never stopped until you had nothing else to give. Even then you still provided me with rest. I am sorry I can no longer visit you, because I’m confined to my bed but believe me, I would if I could. I watch you through my window, hoping to one day gain the energy to spend just another minute with you.

The point of this letter is to tell you that what you did for me inspired me to give the same to my child. I passed the gifts you gave me onto my kids. My kids that you helped house with your branches. I planted a tree, similar to you, but it could never be the same.

As it grew, I watched my child play with her branches, climb her trunk and rest under her shade. There is one thing I taught him to do differently. To appreciate all the tree gives, even if he doesn’t understand the significance. I taught him not only to take from our generous tree but to give. Spend time and return what it has given to him.

I know I will never be able to repay you what you have done for me but I hope this brings some joy to you. Thank you for always doing what ever you could, to make me happy.

Love,

The little boy, that you gave everything too.
