The bioluminiscent bay, Vieques
brown at day, blue at night
dull at midday, evanescent at midnight
my friends and I on twenty little boats
we row onwards, the water sparkles
we row backwards, same effect
great memories being created among friends
Is this magic?
Is this nature?
Is it friendship?
Is it all of the above?

SanSe '14 was the first time in this event where my parents allowed me to be with my friends and not have them follow me around. I was able to enjoy my time with just my friends and not have to worry about my parents. it was the time i walked for two hours from the Mariott to San Sebastian and 2 hours back to my house. SanSe'14 was the first time i felt freedom from my parents, i felt independent. I felt like they trusted me enough to be able to make the right decisions. I felt free, like a d...

It was Pre-Kinder, and we were in the playground. I was not the girliest girl at the time, wearing the SJS dress and my blue/white basketball shoes. Enjoying my time playing tag, I was interrupted by Carolina, who suddenly came up to me. She stood there in my face, waiting to gain the full attention of four-year-old me (I could easily get distracted by a butterfly so it took a couple of minutes.) She was the definition of the girliest girly girl, with a huge white, green, and pink bow decorat...

Since the beginning, music has been very present in my life. I played the violin until around fifth grade. The older I got, the more I hated playing violin. I thought it was soooo uncool. When I finally stopped playing violin I got into guitar. I went to the music store with my dad to pick out a guitar my size. I fell in love with a red heart shaped guitar. I didnt care if the sound quality wasnt that great. It was just so pretty and so cool, I had to have it. It would totally boost my R...

She looks around and squints at the walls. All she sees are faceless frames on the walls, everything seeming untouched. She pulls away her blanket and steps off the bed barefoot. The floor has a cold layer of frost but is not slippery, it shines and sparkles with every step. She begins to walk towards the hallway where all the beautiful flowers are held. She glides her hand on the mystic walls leaving a trail of condensed wat...

I used to believe there was a social standing that come with drinking tea from a teacup. The media always portrayed this image of intelligent, high class British people were the only people who drink tea. This perception I had stopped when I went to Peru. Everybody drank tea there, I mean everybody: no matter the age, gender, or social class. Peruvians were not big on water, they stayed hydrated with tea and soup. It's funny because I would see tea as a remedy not a source of hydration. I won...

My heart palpitations. I can’t distinguish whether I actually go through them or it is just a figment of my imagination. They always start the same but diverge into different situations.
Beginning:
I ecstatically get into bed after a day of hardly sleeping. Right when I close my eyes, the torture begins. I’m still awake but things are different now. My heart starts beating faster than usual. As quickly as I closed my eyes, I open them again and the palpi...
