Graphite smudges the lined paper filled with doodles
I wrack my brain for something, anything
A poetic line, a thrilling story
But I find my mind to be as blank as the paper in front of me
I start with one word…
THE…

Silence echoes through space as a rebel ship is caught in an imperial tractor beam. Rebel troops brace themselves as they prepare to be boarded. Their iron clad ship doors are no match it seems, though, as through them a beam of light emerges. It cracks open, and lasers begin to blast left and right. Mere seconds after, the rebel forces lay dead, and from the fog of war emerges the architect of all this death: the evil Darth Desi.
On a corner of the ship, the princess was transmitting a...

I've been trying to find you in the distance between you and me. I've been looking at our pictures from our summer in Spain. How that spanish light looked so pretty against your tanned summer skin. I painted my nails bright red to match the color of our souls. I didn't think I would fall for you, to be honest. You're so different from everything I've ever wanted.
Boy, I wanted someone to hold me in between their words, someone who would write Spanish poems about me, someone...

He didn’t believe me. What a surprise. He may as well just have had a chalk board attached to his forehead that said, “I’m insecure about my own problems and want you to empty your pockets in a pointless attempt to humiliate you so I can feel better about myself and have enough confidence to drive home in my Toyota Shit Box, lie in my bed, and use the time I’m obviously not spending having sex with my wife to think of more ways to make your life harder.” Ha, I...

First, they’ll arrive.
Slowly, they’ll walk around, brushing their hands against everyone they see. They’ll tug on their arms and kick their legs. And suddenly, you’ll feel them kick you.
The biggest one will come over and stare at you while hacking metal into your torso. Hack, hack, hack, until you fall to the ground. Your ...Read Full Post »

She looks to the sky ever so often, and you wish she'd stop.
She'd reach out to touch the clouds, the coulds,
and every time she did, you thought she's reached them, shes not coming back, she's finally left you behind
You'd nail her feet to the roots of trees and anchor her there just to keep her from floating away if you could.
she tells you every day, i need you to trust me, and offers you her open hand,
but you won't take it, w...

Dear Peter Pan,
I think you may have forgotten me
I think you left me behind
I know it must be an accident
I’m not that easy to find
You probably just missed me,
Puerto Rico is so so small
But maybe you should have tried again
Before I got so tall
Suddenly, everything’s harder
I’m spreading myself too thin

You will admit, you have never been good with directions
But when the sign said take a right onto the next road,
You kept going straight.
And when the next sign said take a left onto the next road,
You kept going straight.
And when all the other signs kept telling you to get off that one road,
That it was time to take the others,
Girl you can’t stick to this one flat road anymore,
It’s time to move on, take the turn.
You kep...

I still remember what they told me
Don’t stand tall.
Don’t look special.
Don’t stand out.
I tried. I really did. That’s a funny problem, being too good.
Every year they passed me. In past years they remarked on my beauty and potential. But all I wanted was for them to be quiet.
I thought I would be safe. That I would be too young for them. Not good e...

We think we know each other well enough but I think we really don't.
I've spent a lot of time wondering if people really get to know each other in the first place.
How you always seemed to surprise me even though I was expecting it.
How maybe you even surprised yourself, too.
So how can we know each other if we barely know ourselves?
I think about our summers in Arizona and the big stars and the first boy I kissed.
How it was p...
